Rejected for an Internship

Because of my previous post, people are asking if it’s true that I was rejected for an internship while holding a PhD.
Yes. It’s true.
That happened in 2017.
And, honestly, it made sense.
I was applying for a business development role, but I came from a scientific background and had no commercial experience. That’s exactly why I chose to apply for an internship.
At the time, I already understood:
If you want to build anything, you need to learn how to sell and market it.
I wish I had been taught that at school.
The sooner you learn it, the better.
Just like investing.
I’m still working on it now.
But one thing I know for sure is this:
you have to show up first.
That takes confidence.
It takes courage.
And it takes dropping the idea that marketing is “bad” or selling is “low-level”. (Probably the most difficult one)
It isn’t.
The real rule is simple:
Be honest and willing to help.
That’s how trust gets built.
Do you agree?
